Marcos to mayors: Embrace new technologies to improve efficiencies – Politiko

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday urged local leaders to utilize the latest technology trends to enhance governance.
There is always potential for growth and opportunity, Marcos Junior. said in his speech during the mass oath-taking of newly elected officers and directorate members of the League of Municipalities from the Philippines (LMP) at Malacañan Palace.
“In seeking and employing the best solutions for our people, let us be open to all the latest innovations, new ideas, and fresh perspectives, ” the President said.
Marcos asked the particular mayors to work closely with the private sector to make digital transformation happen.
“Let us include private partnerships to maximize the service that we give to the people. Let us use that to implement critical projects in each locality, especially those related to infrastructure and digitalization, ” according to him.
The Chief Executive also assured the local leaders in the national government’s support for the implementation with the Mandanas Ruling, which will increase the share of national government tax revenue associated with local governments, taking effect this year.
The provision of the Local Government Support Fund-Growth Equity Fund (LGSF-GEF) would ensure that will “no LGUs have been left behind” within the full devolution associated with functions.
“As we prepare for the full devolution of this year, let me assure you that this country wide government will do the very best of our ability. We will help you meet the particular demands associated with this devolution, including the realization of your respective transition plans, ” Marcos Jr. told LMP officials.
The LGSF-GEF aims to provide additional funding to LGUs that are identified as poor, disadvantaged, plus lagging to support the implementation of their priority projects and services to be allocated to provinces, cities, municipalities, and barangays.
